Exploring Thornley Wood

Nestled in the Derwent Valley of Gateshead, in northeastern England, is Thornley Wood. This is a mixed-broadleaf, semi-natural woodland famous for its population of Red Kites. Recently, our class went on a walk around the site to discover the incredible blend of habitats it holds. On this page you will find some information on the history of the site and the habitats that can be found here, as well as some descriptions of their value. A lot of theory will come into play, but I'll ensure that this is easy to understand at a beginner level. I hope this page can be an enjoyable read once it's set up!
